Parachute Deployment Device

APP develops advanced aerospace solutions that ensure safe and reliable operations in extreme environments. Our Parachute Deployment Device (PDD) exemplifies our expertise in precision engineering for space missions.

The PDD is designed for the controlled ejection of parachutes in space probe descent systems. It features a mortar tube to store and guide the parachute, a gas generator to pressurize the system, and a sabot that protects the parachute from hot gases during deployment. Originally developed for the ESA Technology Research Programme (TRP) in 2015, the system was further refined for high-profile missions including EXOMARS and the SpaceRider descent and landing system. APP designs and manufactures the mortars and gas generators in collaboration with leading aerospace partners, delivering proven reliability for critical space operations.
