Aerospace Propulsion Products (APP) will present its latest ignition system developments at the Space Propulsion Conference in Bari, Italy (18–21 May 2026). APP engineers will introduce two papers that focus on performance, cost reduction, and reusability for future launch systems. In Session 83, APP will present its work on additive manufacturing (AM) for rocket engine torch igniters. The team uses AM to reduce complexity, shorten lead times, and lower costs. The new design integrates multiple components into a single part. This approach enables lighter hardware and supports high-cadence production for engines such as PROMETHEUS . In Session 91, APP will present its direct plasma laser ignition system (LIS). This technology offers an alternative to pyrotechnic, spark, and glow plug ignition systems. It reduces system mass and improves reliability. It also supports rapid reuse. APP continues to mature and industrialize this technology together with European partners . These developments show APP’s strong focus on innovation. The company supports the transition to flexible, cost-effective, and reusable launch systems in Europe.
